Smart Glasses

From Glasshole to insta-fame

So I decided to try out the Meta Ray-bans. You can find a litany of folks explaining what they are and what it is like. I'm an avid Ice Skater but have recently been concentrating on Speed Skating for the last 3 years. I have been injured, I have been out of commission, I have been inspired.

This Post is about -

  • Smart glasses
  • Short Track Speed Skating
  • My efforts to promote all skating

First we did a session where we captured video to promote Short Track Speed Skating. You can see a video on our website home page here -

We shot both Apple 3D Spacial Video and used the Meta Ray Ban glasses. Both have a deep impact on getting the "feeling" out.

While I'm still exploring the best way to edit the 3D video, I have developed a workflow to get it to the Quest HeadSet. It is much better at being fully immersive on Apple hardware, still the Quest is a good way to experience this.

I have found all speed skaters have a unique quality, it's what makes us speed skaters. As Coach Richard said, "You found your people!"

I have been skating for most of my life, I think I went to the rink in Santa Monica when I was 14. I'm still at it. I have meet a incredible group of people in the speed skating community.

I still meet and admire the work of many skaters. I attend skating at public sessions and try to promote the art of skating.

It is one of the passions I follow.

As a group we recognize the value of the videos both as a promotional tool but as a training tool. We are discussing it's further incorporation to our organization and events.

For now the experiment is a success. More video to come...

Cheers of now
